THOSE 'eMpTy BAGS'

So the world-famous Nic Howard convinces me that I really should make a much bigger felted bag. Messenger style so you can 'wear' it. Hands free. And I should make it for her. So I did and it's very cool. I want it!

Here's a sneak peek.

And here's a peek of what Penny created - her original design. Feel free to get inspiration from it but please don't copy it exactly - we like each bag to be different!. Isn't it outstanding?

CONQUERING THE GALAXY - AN EPIC

Elliot (at 7), who not only dreams of being a film producer/director/maker of Playstation games "but actually will be one", came up with a new idea tonight:

"I've decided to also make a new Star Wars playstation game and it will be called 'Star Wars:Size Doesn't Matter'. And the only characters you can choose to be will be Yoda or ewoks. Because with them size doesn't matter. And they can still 'con-kwer' the galaxy!"*

Add this to his ideas for:

-new Star Wars movies (''when George Lucas is too old to make them")

-turning his Captain Underpants books (which he has written and illustrated himself)into a movie

-writing movies combining several Playstation games

-recruiting his classmates to be 'on my crew when they're older'

I can see where this might be heading. Wish I had plans like that when I was 7!

(* I hereby formally copyright this idea!)

I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW

Today I am reminded of a time 8 years ago when I took Cait to have her eyes tested. As I am from a family of girls who have all needed glasses from a young age I figured it was prudent to have Cait's eyes tested when she was 4. She was excited about the test. We had explained to her about glasses helping people and how cool they were.

Examination over. Cait's eyesight was perfect. She didn't need glasses.

She screamed.

We had built up glasses too much.

Fast forward 8 years. Cait is 12. She complains of sore eyes. She has a test. She has 20/20 vision but her eyes don't work together well when she is tired. The optometrist suggests glasses for when her eyes are tired. For when she's reading late at night (after her light is meant to be out).

She chooses her first frames. Green. Esprit. Groovy.

Like me Cait decides her glasses need to be a fashion statement.

Cait has glasses. She's cool about it.

She doesn't scream.

PENNY'S BEEN PLAYING

Look what Penny did to one of my bags (OK it's hers now and it's way better than when it left my place). Is she clever or what? Soooo cute. I love it. (And don't you love her photos?)

A WORK IN PROGRESS

I get on the scales. I realise that finally I now weigh 30kgs less than I did 2 years ago.

It's taken a while. My weight loss plateaued for about 12 months after I lost the first 20kgs. I still exercise 5-6 times a week. But 10 weeks ago I joined Weight Watchers. 10 more kg gone.

So today I join the gym's Midwinter Makeover Challenge. 10 weeks of personal training, nutrition and exercise seminars, a bootcamp session (scary), before and after measurements and photos. Hmm, wonder how much I can lose in the next 10 weeks. Before summer.

There's still a way to go. Maybe 15, maybe 20 kg. But I suddenly smell an end to this journey. That it really is possible.
