WHO KNOWS?

DH is tucking Elliot (age 7) into bed.

"Dad. I have an important question. I've been thinking. I think that Santa is like the Tooth Fairy. That he's not real. That he's really you and Mumma."

DH 'fesses up and then gives Elliot a wee lecture about how he's a big boy now because he knows the special grown up secret and he must not discuss it at school because you never know who knows and who doesn't. You can only discuss it with your family.

Mummy tucks Elliot into bed. "I hear you and Daddy have had a discussion about Santa."

"Yes", says Elliot "Now I know the grown up secret but it's ok because I won't talk about it at school. You can only discuss it with your family." 10 second pause. "Does Cait know?"

Cait, his sister, is 12!

Aww, that is so cute. My 2, especially my 8 1/2 year often bring up the 'Santa isn't really conversation' but they haven't made any firm decisions yet.

so cute. Isn't it cute that he thinks he may have figured something out before Caits.

LOL - there must be a page in that!! I guess it won't be long before we have this discussion with our boy. Great way to handle it :)

I think its sad that he knows now...but at least he wasnt 5 like me when I found out. I like that you took that tack of him knowing an adult 'secret' and not telling others....then he learns that somethings stay a 'family' secret and shouldnt be broadcasted to all his friends.

That's a neat little story. Good for you with the family secret bit.

LOL!

That's so cute. I'm glad he's got the secret business worked out. No flies on him.

So funny about his question about Caitlin.
