GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES

Today these three things joined our household:

A set of three Scanpan Impact saucepans. I have been coveting a set of these for a long long time. And today they arrived. Courtesy of a chef brother-in-law with connections (ie wholesale!).

Three cartons of preserving jars and bottles from Arthur Holmes. Now I can start making stuff. As we speak I have lemongrass and ginger jelly dripping through the jelly strainer.

And, best of all, Sam Hayes' new book Tell Tale. I have been waiting for this forever. Ms Hayes does not write fast enough to satisfy me! I need her to write more books. Love, love, love her work. I didn't think this was going to be available in NZ until March but I had asked our library to get it and voila! I asked the librarian why they have it but I can't buy it yet. Seems they get book directly from the publisher. Ah, now I know. Go find yourself a copy.

As for the jars....I'll be bringing home some apricots, peaches and nectarines for jam, chutney's & preserving when I come back through central next week :-)

oh nice set of saucepans. I am going to add Sam Hayes to my list of authors "must try". Oh have fun with the preserving. BTW I love Arthur Holmes, they give such god service.

Yum to the ginger jelly! The book looks too stressful for me though, lol!

So come on - how's the book going? Finished it yet?
And as for us getting books early - sometimes we get them in and can cover them etc but aren't allowed to put them out, or even read them ourselves - util a date that's in GIANT RED letters on the box. Bummer ;-)

How, how , how did I miss that sam Hayes had a new book coming out??? Can't wait to get my hands on it!

BTW, would love to join the blogosphere book circle but a bit worried about over committing myself while I'm doing Trailwalker (have no free time at the moment.) I'm wondering if I might be able to join in later in the year?

that jam sounds amazing! what do you eat it with?

Suzannah, the lemongrass and ginger jelly is designed to go well with Asian inspired chicken and fish dishes. I've eaten it with a chicken sald and it's even great with that. It is slightly sweet and sour.
