Glass bottomed boat snorkelling tripWe're home from Rarotonga. 8 days of swimming, kayaking, snorkelling, husking coconuts, hunting crabs, reading (I got through 4 books). Lots of rain (it's the rainy season) but 30 degree temperatures every day meant it didn't matter.
Kids club outingWe had a rental car for a few days which was fun. You have to go to the police station to get a licence and they sell police souvenirs!
We were rapt to meet up again with artist Mahiriki Tangaroa and purchased an original art work from her - something we had been wanting for years.
Little geckos (moko) everywhere at night.The Pacific Resort was good (our 2 bedroom Garden villa was great but definitely not the 120 square metres they advertised (I think they must have included the garden area outside).But we've decided we like the Rarotongan Beach Resort and Spa (where we stayed last time) better. For those of you planning Cook Island holidays with small kids the Pacific Resort kid's club only catered for the over 6's. They only did outdoor activities so if it was raining (which it did a lot) then the kids activities were cancelled. Activities finished around 4pm. The Rarotongan's kids club take kids from 4 years old and have an indoor facility. They also have a 7pm-9pm session meaning you can feed the kids early - drop them to the kids club and have an adult dinner on your own.
Anyway as our kids are a bit older it didn't matter at all to us.
We highly recommend Trader Jacks in Avarua for great seafood meals and drinks (especially the mango slushies). Cafe Salsa was great, too. The Saturday market was bustling and fun. The glass bottomed boat snorkelling trip was amazing. Even Mr 8 snorkelled out of his depth. And deep sea fishing on charter boat "Akura" netted a yellowfin tuna for DH.

Wow what a tattoo!! Awesome. Great to read the tips, esp. the fishing charter. We are also staying at the Pacific Resort but have booked a nanny to look after our boys (3yrs & 5yrs). Love to see some more pics :)
