NAIL BITER

Janine had a manicure today. Which reminds me. I am a nail biter from way back. Like forever. At 40 years of age I had bitten my nails my entire life. I have big, man hands and no nails. Not a great look. When the other Janine (my sister) was visiting about 3 months ago we decided to get our nails done. Acrylics. I figured they'd snap off after a few days. Wrong. Three months later I am still having them backfilled religiously every 3 weeks (yes, I tell Darryn I am high maintenance now). A french polish. I can still garden and do the housework. They make me feel nice. I still have big hands. And a few too many wrinkles. But I have nails!

Check out the new kitchen cabinetry colour in the background. More photos once the benchtop comes (hopefully in a week).

From one nail bitter to another - aren't the acrylics the best thing since sliced bread? I too love mine and yes they make you feel so much better instead of looking at stubby fingers. Love your blog header photo.

well the woman who did my nails today said I had litle nails lol. I am not quite sure what she was trying to tell me lol. Your nails look fab!! I like the fench manicure look. I haven't plucked up the courage to do acrylics.

Hi Mel,

Your hands look great.
I too have man hands. But small manish type hands. Little sausages for fingers too.

I am also an ex-nail biter. A very hard habit to break. I find if I get headaches or feel ill and im not at home all i do is bite my nails.
I can grow them but not very long as they seem to break. I can afford acrylics or else I wouldnt be able to afford to scrap-lol.

Cant wait to see your kitchen Mel.

Hey Sandra - can I still scrap with those nails? Well the only thing I have trouble with is brads (I love brads) - takes twice as long to get the backs open! The price we pay!

Yep man hands here too but short stubby fingers. Farming and long nails dont go together unfortunately but one girlie weekend I went on with a couple of gfs..we got our nails done...and I couldnt pick anything up after! High maintenance is great for us 40 year olds Mel!
And I love your new banner/look too.

Love the idea of acrylics, had them years ago when I lived in Aussie. Mine keep splitting since having children, maybe time for a lookie again. Ah who needs to open things, that is what children or hubbies can be used for....LOL

Hey hey - like the new banner/background :-)

says in small voice I have only ever had one professional manicure.

Luckily I can grow my nails pretty long - very handy for picking up tiny brads and bits. I only bite them when I'm hungry (!) or nervous.

So the cabinets are.. a beige colour?

Well you can keep your gorgeous acrylics babe. No matter how many times I get them done, I just can't get used to doing the basics (you know, like wiping your ....) I need to feel the end of my fingers in order to wash, cook and scrap!!! but yours do look great!
